Dublin’s most innovative new music collective, Electro Acoustic
Revue (EAR), will present “Ear-Drum”, a series of six electroacoustic
concerts centred on the theme of percussion at Project Arts Centre.
The diverse programme includes music for multichannel tape, diffused
over a ‘virtual’ loudspeaker orchestra, as well as works for percussion
with mixed ensemble and live electronics.
Highlights of the week will include a concert of Austrian and
German music for percussion and electronics, and an evening of
music from the San Francisco Tape Music Collective, featuring
works by Pauline Oliveros, Matt Ingalls, Kent Jolly, James Tenney,
and the Irish premiere of Golden by Brian Eno, the godfather of
ambient music.

TUESDAY 27 MARCH 8.15 P.M. MULTICHANNEL SPATIAL MUSIC
A chance to hear six of Fergal Dowling’s spatial compositions
performed together. The programme will include immersive sound
sculptures and multichannel compositions presented using a 3D
loudspeaker array. Auditors will be free to wander through the
space and explore the soundfield for themselves. The programme
will run without interruption for one hour.

WEDNESDAY 28 MARCH 8.15 P.M. ELECTRONIC WORKS BY NEW IRISH COMPOSERS
This concert will include tape music by the new generation of
Irish electro acoustic composers, students from NUIM and DkIT.

TAPE MUSIC COLLECTIVE
Inspired by the legendary 1960s San Francisco Tape Music Centre,
the SFTMC is dedicated to presenting performances of audio art
diffused through a surround-sound speaker environment. EAR are
delighted to bring to Ireland for the first time a selection of
music from the collective.

SATURDAY 31 MARCH 1.00 P.M. SELECTED MULTICHANNEL TAPE MUSIC
This concert will showcase electronic music from around the world,
notably by Livio Tragtenberg, one of the leading contemporary
composers from Brazil, Adam Stansbie, Jason Dixon and John ffitch,
one of the developers of Csound. These works, most of which are
Irish premieres, will be performed on a multichannel sound spatialisation
rig, giving a full 'cinema for the ear' experience for the audience.
